RUDO™ Weather Challenge · Season 1
Guess first. Then let real weather tell us.
Every day, kids and families around the world forecast one number: tomorrow's maximum temperature at Boston Logan airport. When the NWS daily climate report comes in, a public program measures the exact error. The error is the score. It is free, and it always will be for families.

How it works
Look
Check the weather around Boston: forecasts, maps, yesterday's high. Any public source is fine, AI included.
Guess
Enter tomorrow's high in °C with one decimal, and say whether you used AI. Change it as often as you like before the cutoff.
Seal
You get a receipt with a sha256 fingerprint. Anyone can check later that your forecast was not changed.
Learn
The observed high arrives. See your exact error next to simple reference lines, and try again tomorrow.
One ruler, three boundaries
One ruler
Boston Logan
Everyone, everywhere, forecasts the same station and the same variable: the daily maximum temperature. Where you live does not change your score.
One deadline
18:00 EST the day before
That is 23:00 UTC. The server clock decides, and a forecast received exactly at the cutoff is late. We show the time in your zone too.
One truth source
NWS daily climate report
The first complete NWS climate report (CLI) for Boston after the day ends. Corrections within 7 days are applied; after that the result is final.
Season 1 theme
El Niño Learning Season 2026–27
Winter in Boston, seen through the lens of El Niño. Short lessons explain what moves a daily high and how a warm Pacific can tilt a whole season. Core rounds are S-01 (2026-11-21), S-02 (11-23) and S-03 (11-25), then every Saturday and Wednesday target day through 2027-02-28. Every other day is an open practice round.
Season 1 has no leaderboard and no percentiles. Each participant sees their own forecasts, errors, reference lines and coverage.
