What the statuses mean
- Open
- Accepting forecasts until the cutoff (18:00 EST, 23:00 UTC, the day before the target day).
- Closed
- Cutoff passed. The list of on-time submission hashes is frozen into a manifest.
- Waiting for data
- The target day is over but the first complete NWS climate report has not arrived. After 48 hours we say so; after 14 days the round is void.
- Provisional
- Scored from the first complete report. If NWS issues a correction within 7 days of our snapshot, we re-score and add a new result version; nothing is overwritten.
- Final
- Seven days have passed since the snapshot. Later revisions (including NCEI quality control) are archived for audit but do not change results.
- Void
- Removed for everyone, with a published reason (data missing over 14 days, an ambiguous question, or a confirmed platform outage). Void rounds never count against coverage.
